June update from the Elders
Over the course of the past month, the elders have been monitoring the public data concerning the on-going health impact of the virus. We have also been attending to the scientific and medical entities that provide objective assessment and recommendations aimed at protecting the society at large against the ravages of this pandemic. We did this in order to be able to make an informed and prayerful decision concerning resuming regular services at the appropriate time.
It was decided that resuming regular services should be delayed for at least another month at which time another review would be formally convened. It is our joint position that the risk of virus infection and transmission is still too great, especially in spaces populated with a large number of people. We were also mindful of the fact that there could be an adverse impact of the opening up of facilities in the society that has not yet had time to manifest itself, and that our congregation has a large number of at risk individuals. When we do resume, we expect that there will be a transition period where measures that were successful in limiting the spread of the virus will need to be adhered to, as well as other possible modifications that may be deemed necessary. We will be reviewing some of those over the month of June.
We thank you for your cooperation and commitment to DBC which have not diminished over the past 2 months. This has been evidenced by your mutual encouragement and responsiveness to the alternate means of ministry, worship and fellowship in which we have been engaged. We encourage you to continue in this vein as the leadership introduces new ways in which we can continue to encourage, edify and minister to each other, while we all eagerly await the physical resumption of our services.
May God bless you all!
1st Thessalonians 5: 16-18 – Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
I pray for our Elders and Deacons that God will continue to guide them as they negotiate these trying times. Although difficult, it is a time of opportunities for all.
We do the best we can before the Lord and you are using up the time to His glory and praise. Continue this good work until other changes comes even with Covid 19. Thanks for your astute service and up-dates- Blessings.
