Update from the Elders

April 28, 2020

It has been seven weeks since we met at 3355 Snapfinger Road to worship the Lord together and we continue to look for a finish line to this pandemic.  We thank the Lord for technology and the ability to teach, encourage, and pray with one another using innovative methods but our desire is to fellowship with one another in person. In Philippians 1:8, Paul shares of his longing to be with the saints, and though he was imprisoned and not “sheltering in place”, we share a similar longing for you.

Governor Brian Kemp has begun to lift restrictions on church gatherings based on a defined set of criteria, but after conversations with our deacons and medical professionals in our church, we will continue to limit our meetings to video streaming and conference calls until we feel that the health and safety of our members will not be compromised.  We have not set a date for resuming services but will evaluate our position again at the end of May.

We continue to discuss other online forms of connection and interaction and hope to implement some in the upcoming weeks.  Some of our Sunday School classes are meeting via ZOOM video conferences, we started a Thursday Bible Study last week on a conference call and are planning to add other methods of discipleship to the list of activities.  We encourage you all to use this time to catch up on or keep up with your bible reading.  Our reading schedule currently has us at II Kings 7-9.

We thank you for your continued prayers and commitment to DBC and are convinced that God is pruning us to go and bear fruit as a church wherever we are.

For His Glory,

The Elders of Decatur Bible Chapel.

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. John 15:1-2(NIV)
