“Stop doubting and believe” – outline
March 22, 2020
We thank everyone who joined us today. We will work on resolving some of the buffering issues we had during the live stream. Here is the outline of the message. God bless!
Key Text: John 20:24-31
Thomas made a declaration that we all will make either now or later.
“My Lord and My God”
Thomas was selected by Jesus as one of the twelve. It was not a random or haphazard choice. There was a reason Thomas was chosen and Jesus knew why. Three observations come from Thomas’ time with Jesus.
- He struggled with Jesus’ direction
- He was stunned by Jesus’ surrender
- He was separated from Jesus’ people.Today we look at this very special appearance Jesus makes to Thomas, He knows Thomas’ words, what he said a week before, how he would not believe unless he saw for himself….
Jesus shows Thomas his hands and side and invites Him to put his hands in the wounds, which but more than that He says to Thomas;
“Stop doubting and believe”
Jesus takes the time to…
- Comfort Thomas … Peace be with you. John 14:27; John 16:31-33
- Challenge Thomas….Stop doubting and believe. Mark 9:14-29
- Commission Thomas….Go ye into all the world . Mark 16:14-16
Encouragement to members:
- Reflect on your journey as a believer in Jesus and acknowledge God’s goodness to you. Own the peace of God.
- Ask the Lord to help your unbelief…Each day requires a fresh approach to our faith.
- Encourage others with the good news of Jesus. Give people a reason to believe.
