2019 Back to school prayer
Our God and Heavenly Father, we come to you today at the start of a new school year and again we are overwhelmed by the opportunities that you open for us and your great power. You have created all things and for your pleasure they are and were created. Lord You know our desires long before we ever speak and so nothing that we say today is new to You. We see your greatness in the Bible and can testify what you have done in our own families and we are humbled to know that the God of the universe cares so much for us. We thank you for our faith in Jesus Christ and the gift of eternal Life that was purchased on Calvary. Lord thank you for your mercy, grace and forgiveness. Thank you for your promises, faithfulness, and many blessings. No matter where we are or live you are God and God Alone.
You have reminded us in Your word that you are a Sun and Shield, that you give grace and glory and no good thing do you withhold from those who walk uprightly. You have also promised to never leave us or forsake us. You have said that if we commit our way to you that you will direct our path. O Lord we acknowledge that without you we are nothing, and so today we come asking for your help at the beginning of another school year
O Lord, our children belong to you first, some have confessed you as Lord and Savior and so today as they begin the new chapter in their life, we want to make sure that we don’t start this year without putting You first. They will be away from home but never far away from You and so we place them in your care.
Lord we ask for your PROTECTION as they travel to school and interact with new people living each day before you. There is much danger in our world, but we know that you have overcome the tribulations of this world and if we happen to encounter any it will be all for your glory.
Students: Lord PROTECT me
Lord we ask for UNDERSTANDING in their academics. Help them to honor those that are in authority and to work as though they were working for you, acknowledging you in all their ways. At school help them to understand all that is taught in their classes and to always be a blessing to their class mates. Open Your Word to them as they read and give them a greater picture of the Lord Jesus Christ. You said that you would direct our paths as we acknowledge you and we do so today.
Students: Lord give me UNDERSTANDING
Lord we ask that you give them SUCCESS in their classes. Being a competitive environment, help them to as Paul told us in your Word to run to win. Jesus was victorious on the cross and we ask for victory in their class rooms, labs, and whatever they take on, knowing that we will give you all the Glory for the success you give.
Students: Lord give me SUCCESS
Lord we ask that our students will be a Godly influence on their friends and others. That they will stand up for you and be an EXAMPLE to class mates, church members, and all those they come in contact with. Like David, may all who know them speak well of them.
Students: Lord make me an EXAMPLE
Oh Lord thank you for this moment in our lives. May we all be drawn closer to you through this. We know that you are able to do above and beyond what we can ask or think because yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory. We pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus, AMEN.
